In our submission we:

  • Question whether the wholesale portion of the cost stack could be reduced further,
  • Highlight the need to support customers to navigate the energy market and find affordable electricity offers,
  • Remind the Essential Services Commission of the broader cost of living context and the need for energy affordability as they determine the annual price,
  • Urge regulators and policymakers to examine mechanisms that complement the VDO to create real affordability.

We have also written a letter  to the Essential Services Commission, stating our view that a transitioning energy market is complicating the role of regulated offers and the reference price.
