However, there are often some upfront costs. Explore the list below to find a list of subsidies and rebates available to households to help you electrify or become more energy efficient. These change regularly so check that they are still current or if there are other opportunities.

Energex PeakSmart air conditioning rewards program

Incentives (like up to $400 cashback) for eligible Southeast QLD properties purchasing a PeakSmart air conditioner or upgrading an existing one.

South Australia

Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS)

Incentives for South Australian households and businesses to save energy and benefit from energy productivity activities with a focus on low income households. The types of activities eligible for support are detailed here.

Western Australia

Energy Ahead

Support for up to 10,000 eligible WA households to improve energy efficiency at home. Can replace low-efficiency appliances, like fridges.

Australian Capital Territory 

Home Energy Support Program

Provides up to $5,000 in rebates for eligible homeowners to help with the upfront costs of installing energy-efficient products including solar, reverse cycle heating and cooling, heat pumps, electric stoves and ovens, and ceiling insulation. 

Australian Capital Territory 

Energy-efficient electric water heater upgrade

ACT residents can upgrade to an energy-efficient electric water heater and get $1,250 off the purchase price plus a $250 credit on their ActewAGL electricity bill. 

Australian Capital Territory 

ActewAGL Fridge Buyback program

ActewAGL customers can get free removal and recycling of old fridges or freezers. If you have a 2-door appliance, you can also get a $30 credit on your electricity bill.

ActewAGL heating and cooling upgrade program

Upgrade ducted gas heating to reverse-cycle air conditioning and get $2,500 off the purchase price, plus a $500 credit on your ActewAGL electricity bill.
